Culture Kit Booklets

This education and information pack on St. Lucia's culture's cultural heritage comes out of the FRC's CULTURE IN EDUCATION programme area. It is an attempt to help fill the void in educational materials about heritage and culture in St. Lucia.

The pack marks the beginning of the production of audio-visual materials by the FRC in St. Lucia on different aspects of the way of life of St. Lucian people. This first one should serve as a general introduction to the people and five central areas in their culture: RELIGION, LANGUAGE, ORAL LITERATURE, WORK and SOCIAL EVENTS (presented in the form of a cultural calendar). The kit will also be further supplemented at a later date by cassette recordings, slide photos and other audio-visual material. It is expected to be a major resource aimed specifically at the 13 - 16 age group but most accessible and attractive to adults and even younger children.

As a project, most of the process and product was funded and patiently supported by the Caribbean Conference of Churches. This organization which has been at the vanguard of genuine people's development in the Caribbean region for many years continues to unselfishly commit itself to areas where our people are most in need. This time, their support for cultural development and education should help to strengthen our people against the powerful modern threats to our cultural sovereignty.
