FRC invites proposals from communities and community organizations for the hosting of the 2010 Mwa Éwitaj Kwéyòl (Creole Heritage Month) including Jounen Kwéyòl

 

The Folk Research Centre (FRC) invites proposals from communities and community organizations for the hosting of the 2010 Mwa Éwitaj Kwéyòl (Creole Heritage Month) including Jounen Kwéyòl on Sunday October 24th 2010.

Jounen Kwéyòl 2010 will feature a programme of core activities in each host community, including the honouring of folk heroes, a kwéyòl church service, a traditional food and drink fair, an indoor exhibition of Cultural items, outdoor demonstrations of traditional technologies and other cultural traditions and, spontaneous and rehearsed cultural performances.

Mwa Éwitaj Kwéyòl and Jounen Kwéyòl are both held under the auspices of the FRC. They offer a fantastic opportunity to communities to spread economic, educational and cultural benefits across all social sectors, particularly at the grass roots level. 

The bidding procedure is as follows:

1.      Communities and community organizations should submit a bid in the form of a proposal to host Mwa Éwitaj Kwéyòl and Jounen Kwéyòl before 10th April 2010.

2.      Proposals should be sent to: The Executive Director, Folk Research Centre, PO Box 514, Castries or to frc@candw.lc. Alternatively, it could be hand-delivered to FRC personnel at the Mount Pleasant headquarters of FRC.

3.      Proposals will be accepted in English or Kwéyòl

4.      FRC will review all proposals and select host communities based on the composition of the organizing committee; the plan of events for Mwa Éwitaj Kwéyòl and Jounen Kwéyòl and; the advice of state institutions such as the Police, Fire Service, NEMO and Ministry of   Health 

5.      All candidates will be notified of the result of their bids by 30th April, 2010.

6.      When host communities have been selected and bidders have been informed of the results of their bids, a public announcement of host communities will be made by FRC.
